HOMES
7035 Lakewood Boulevard
This iconic Spanish Eclectic home is well-known in the neighborhood for its dramatic blue exterior drapes that surround large nautical-themed stained glass windows trademark to Hutsell homes. Built in 1930, this was Clifford Hutsell’s personal home in the 30s, and the first homes of its kind for the neighborhood. When the current homeowners purchased the house three years ago, they painstakingly restored, repaired, and replaced many of the exterior and interior surfaces. They balanced the fine line between honoring the artistic details of the past like while improving performance of the space for maximum comfort today. Hutsell’s eclectic spirit provides a backdrop for the family’s funky and eccentric curation of art, antiques, and articles, including a vintage Majolica plate collection seen throughout the entire home.

7039 Lakeshore Drive
Common with other Hutsell homes in the neighborhood, this 1936 historical home originally maximized its western California-inspired roots with custom colorful hand painted tilework throughout the interior and exterior. The current owners have seamlessly paid homage to its heritage. Original pillow tile can be seen showcased in two upstairs bathrooms. Family heirloom antiques from around the world have been collected over the years and blend easily with the trademark Hutsell features like beveled mirrors and intricate iron work. Over 80 pieces of the family’s 1950s American pottery collection are displayed throughout the entire property. The home is highlighted by a traditional Hutsell billiard room with a distinct frosting ceiling known from the time period and flanked with stained glass making the naturally lit space a family favorite gathering space.

7038 Lakewood Boulevard
When purchased in 2015, the owners loved the Spanish Colonial aesthetic of the home and saw potential to update the finishes and create a more functional floor plan. This 1929 Hutsell underwent a complete kitchen, front courtyard and master suite remodel, along with adding a junior master in the old second floor sleeping porch. Incorporating details such as stained glass windows and cabinet door fronts added some of the iconic Hutsell flare. Most recently, a detached-rear entry garage with second floor guest quarters was built to mimic the homes front elevation. The owners’ eclectic and Southwestern decor reflect their personalities and travel finds. The corner lot provides ample flower beds, plenty of street frontage, and countless opportunities to interact with neighbors – making this home a Hutsell gem.

Lakewood Elementary School
In 2014, Lakewood Elementary Expansion Foundation (LEEF) raised over $500,000 from the Lakewood community and other donors to help fund a much needed addition and renovation to Lakewood Elementary. The renovation was complete in January 2018 and expanded the original 1951 building by 52,500 square feet. Located on the south side of the school, the addition includes an entirely new wing with twenty-six new classrooms, a library, two art rooms, two computer rooms, a music room, and so much more. For the first time, the school that we so passionately support throughout the Home Festival weekend is on the Home Tour on Saturday, November 9 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Don’t miss the new sport court outside with food trucks available during Saturday’s tour hours.
