HOMES
6907 Lakewood Boulevard
“Living in this area is the best thing that ever happened to our family.” This was an excerpt taken from Lakewood – Memoirs and Spirit by Jeanette Howeth Crumpler and James H. Davis, and it is just as true today as it was in the 1920s when Lakewood was being developed. This Dines & Kraft home was built in 1927 by Bertram Hill and covers 3,449 square feet in the main house, with an additional back house. 6907 Lakewood Boulevard was featured in advertisements for the neighborhood during the time in which Lakewood was being developed. With its all masonry construction (common for the time), this tudor-influenced home has stood the test of time with many original features showcased both outside of the home as well as inside. Set far back from the street, this house was built to enjoy the natural environment that is unique to Lakewood. The original fireplace and interior fountain utilized tiles from renowned tilemaker Ernest Batchelder, known for his medieval designs.

6626 Blue Valley
Built in 2018 by Patten Custom Homes as the Patten family’s personal residence, 6626 Blue Valley sits on an elevated lot with a one-hundred-year-old live oak stretching its branches over the front of the home. Affectionately named “the tree house” by its owners, Blue Valley combines unique modern architecture and warm natural touches to make it a true stunner. In the backyard, the architect (Maestri Studios) and builder worked together to build the home around a one-hundred-year-old pecan tree which gracefully canopies the backyard. Designed with eleven-foot floor to ceiling windows throughout the home, these majestic trees are seen from nearly every room of the home. The architect and builder strived to bring natural elements throughout the interior and exterior of the tree house. Massive Fir wood beams stretch throughout a trayed open family and living room, natural white oak cabinets accentuate the kitchen and master bath, and the exterior is graced by exposed rafter tails, clear cedar siding, and exposed timber strand beams. A warm, inviting, open, and a fun vibe is felt throughout this family home.

The rooms are filled with bold art, playful wallpaper, and an eclectic mix of vintage and modern pieces that are combined to convey a feeling of happiness and unapologetic joy. Special items include the homeowner’s upright piano, which was a family heirloom, refurbished and painted in a high-gloss bubblegum pink. Much of the house is adorned in the homeowner’s favorite color: yellow. From the bright yellow staircase rails to the canary colored wallpaper in the kitchen, this home is thoughtfully inviting and warm.
